for a rather long time i wanted to write something about an amazing project by frensh photographer / artist JR. the project is named "Women are heroes" and features gigantic portraits/photographs of a group of encredible courageous women whos husbands, sons, daughers or other beloved has been victims of (mainly police) violence
these pictures show jr´s work in rios favelas
i think this project is awsome...amazing as well as beautiful and nothing less but important because it shows once more a modern portait of the womanhood and the female role in society...or better say the struggle of the female role in society

You know what John Lennon said in his song Woman?
"You're the other half of the sky."
@ ms moon
thats a wonderful quote..and its funny that you bring it along because i was about to put lennons woman song on here but decided then for nene cherry..:-)
Hey Danielle,
I have thought about this for a long time. How men and women perceive and operate so differently. And being the physically weaker, women in history have really suffered because of this... but in truth we all suffer in some way.
It will take me a while to get through the videos... Thanks for posting this.
Cheers,
pf
@ petit fleur
thank you for your coment..you are totally right what you write about themodus operandi and its difference between men and women...sure men do suffer too..but its still hart for a woman to claim her part of life ...
i hope you enjoy the videos ..i think they are wonderfull
this looks fascinating - I will have to come back tomorrow and do the listen/look/read thing (I do like those).
@ robin
it really is fascinating.isnt it?
please come back and let me think about the whole project when you saw/read/looked through the whole package..:-)
Danielle,
I just watched the videos... I am utterly speechless. It makes me so furious when I know and I see how so many people are forced to live, and the false entitlement and narcissism that is so prevalent here in the US... sigh.
I want to save them ALL!
The fist video, Cherry Woman was genius. I really enjoyed (using the term loosely!) the way they depicted the story in the bar.
Thank you for finding this and sharing it. It feels like you shared this great discovery and also a snapshot of your tender belly for recognizing and posting it.
Peace,
pf
